I am a PhD candidate at the University of the Western Cape History Department. I am interested to think about the narratives that have been produced of disappeared liberation fighters. Families, the TRC, comrades of the deceased, the forensic specialists, the liberation movement and the old apartheid government all have different stories and narratives. I am especially interested in how human remains, everyday things and political objects from the lives, deaths, exhumation and reburial of the disappeared liberation fighter come to affect and influence those stories in very important ways that help us to remember and memorialise the history of the disappeared.
