Critical Commentary

California was the first state to pass a privacy regulation, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) regulation. The act requires private businesses to be more transparent about their privacy practices and it outlines four privacy rights for California residents: to know what personal information is collected, to delete that information, to opt-out of the sale of information collected and to non-discrimination for exercising their CCPA rights. The opt-out button is an examples of new privacy policies in practice.
